| 44:1 | حَا-مِيم Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. Ĥa-Mim |
| 44:2 | وَالكِتَابِ المُبِينِ By the manifest Book (this Qur'an) that makes things clear, Wa Al-Kitabi Al-Mubini |
| 44:3 | إِنَّا أَنزَلنَاه ُُ فِي لَيلَة ٍ مُبَارَكَة ٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ We sent it (this Qur'an) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Surah No: 97) in the month of Ramadan,, the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship]. 'Inna 'Anzalnahu Fi Laylatin Mubarakatin 'Inna Kunna Mundhirina |
| 44:4 | فِيهَا يُفرَقُ كُلُّ أَمرٍ حَكِيم ٍ Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments. Fiha Yufraqu Kullu 'Amrin Ĥakimin |
| 44:5 | أَمرا ً مِن عِنْدِنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرسِلِينَ Amran (i.e. a Command or this Qur'an or the Decree of every matter) from Us. Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers), 'Amraan Min `Indina 'Inna Kunna Mursilina |
| 44:6 | رَحمَة ً مِنرَبِّكَ إِنَّه ُُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ العَلِيمُ (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. Raĥmatan Min Rabbika 'Innahu Huwa As-Sami`u Al-`Alimu |
| 44:7 | رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرضِ وَمَا بَينَهُمَا إِنكُنْتُممُوقِنِينَ The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you (but) have a faith with certainty. Rabbi As-Samawati Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Ma Baynahuma 'In Kuntum Mūqinina |
| 44:8 | لاَ إِلَهَ~َ إِلاَّ هُوَ يُحيِي وَيُمِيتُ رَبُّكُم وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الأَوَّلِينَ La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fore-fathers. La 'Ilaha 'Illa Huwa Yuĥyi Wa Yumitu Rabbukum Wa Rabbu 'Āba'ikumu Al-'Awwalina |
| 44:9 | بَل هُم فِي شَكّ ٍ يَلعَبُونَ Nay! They play in doubt. Bal Hum Fi Shakkin Yal`abūna |
| 44:10 | فَارتَقِبيَومَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَان ٍ مُبِين ٍ Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. Fartaqib Yawma Ta'ti As-Sama'u Bidukhanin Mubinin |
| 44:11 | يَغشَى النَّاسَ هَذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيم ٌ Covering the people, this is a painful torment. Yaghshá An-Nasa Hadha `Adhabun 'Alimun |
| 44:12 | رَبَّنَا اكشِف عَنَّا العَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤمِنُونَ (They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become believers!" Rabbana Akshif `Anna Al-`Adhaba 'Inna Mu'uminūna |
| 44:13 | أَنَّى لَهُمُ الذِّكرَى وَقَدجَاءَهُم رَسُول ٌ مُبِين ٌ How can there be for them an admonition (at the time when the torment has reached them), when a Messenger explaining things clearly has already come to them. 'Anná Lahumu Adh-Dhikrá Wa Qad Ja'ahum Rasūlun Mubinun |
| 44:14 | ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوا عَنهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّم ٌ مَجْنُون ٌ Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" Thumma Tawallaw `Anhu Wa Qalū Mu`allamun Majnūnun |
| 44:15 | إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا العَذَابِ قَلِيلا ً إِنَّكُم عَائِدُونَ Verily, We shall remove the torment for a while. Verily! You will revert. 'Inna Kashifū Al-`Adhabi Qalilaan 'Innakum `Ā'idūna |
| 44:16 | يَومَ نَبْطِشُ البَطْشَةَ الكُبْرَى إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will exact retribution. Yawma Nabţishu Al-Baţshata Al-Kubrá 'Inna Muntaqimūna |
| 44:17 | وَلَقَدفَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُم قَومَ فِرعَونَ وَجَاءَهُم رَسُول ٌ كَرِيم ٌ And indeed We tried before them Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, when there came to them a noble Messenger [i.e. Musa (Moses)], Wa Laqad Fatanna Qablahum Qawma Fir`awna Wa Ja'ahum Rasūlun Karimun |
| 44:18 | أَن أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَكُم رَسُولٌ أَمِين ٌ Saying: "Restore to me the slaves of Allah (i.e. the Children of Israel). Verily! I am to you a Messenger worthy of all trust, 'An 'Addū 'Ilayya `Ibada Allahi 'Inni Lakum Rasūlun 'Aminun |
| 44:19 | وَأَنلاَ تَعلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنِّي آتِيكُمبِسُلطَان ٍ مُبِين ٍ "And exalt not (yourselves) against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority. Wa 'An La Ta`lū `Alá Allahi 'Inni 'Ātikum Bisulţanin Mubinin |
| 44:20 | وَإِنِّي عُذتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُم أَنتَرجُمُونِ "And truly, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me (or call me a sorcerer or kill me). Wa 'Inni `Udhtu Birabbi Wa Rabbikum 'An Tarjumūni |
| 44:21 | وَإِنلَم تُؤمِنُوا لِي فَاعتَزِلُونِ "But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone." Wa 'In Lam Tu'uminū Li Fa`tazilūni |
| 44:22 | فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ~ُ أَنَّ هَاؤُلاَء قَوم ٌ مُجْرِمُونَ (But they were aggressive), so he [Musa (Moses)] called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.)." Fada`a Rabbahu 'Anna Ha'uula' Qawmun Mujrimūna |
| 44:23 | فَأَسرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيلا ً إِنَّكُممُتَّبَعُونَ (Allah said): "Depart you with My slaves by night. Surely, you will be pursued. Fa'asri Bi`ibadi Laylaan 'Innakum Muttaba`ūna |
| 44:24 | وَاترُكِ البَحرَ رَهوا ً إِنَّهُم جُند ٌ مُغرَقُونَ "And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." Wa Atruki Al-Baĥra Rahwan 'Innahum Jundun Mughraqūna |
| 44:25 | كَم تَرَكُوا مِنجَنَّات ٍ وَعُيُون ٍ How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left. Kam Tarakū Min Jannatin Wa `Uyūnin |
| 44:26 | وَزُرُوع ٍ وَمَقَام ٍ كَرِيم ٍ And green crops (fields etc.) and goodly places, Wa Zurū`in Wa Maqamin Karimin |
| 44:27 | وَنَعمَة ٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ And comforts of life wherein they used to take delight! Wa Na`matin Kanū Fiha Fakihina |
| 44:28 | كَذَلِكَ وَأَورَثنَاهَا قَوما ً آخَرِينَ Thus (it was)! And We made other people inherit them (i.e. We made the Children of Israel to inherit the kingdom of Egypt). Kadhalika Wa 'Awrathnaha Qawmaan 'Ākharina |
| 44:29 | فَمَا بَكَت عَلَيهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالأَرضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنظَرِينَ And the heavens and the earth wept not for them , nor were they given a respite. Fama Bakat `Alayhimu As-Sama'u Wa Al-'Arđu Wa Ma Kanū Munžarina |
| 44:30 | وَلَقَدنَجَّينَا بَنِي إِسرَائِيلَ مِنَ العَذَابِ المُهِينِ And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, Wa Laqad Najjayna Bani 'Isra'ila Mina Al-`Adhabi Al-Muhini |
| 44:31 | مِنفِرعَونَ إِنَّه ُُ كَانَ عَالِيا ً مِنَ المُسرِفِينَ From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). Min Fir`awna 'Innahu Kana `Āliaan Mina Al-Musrifina |
| 44:32 | وَلَقَدِ اختَرنَاهُم عَلَى عِلمٍ عَلَى العَالَمِينَ And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge, Wa Laqadi Akhtarnahum `Alá `Ilmin `Alá Al-`Ālamina |
| 44:33 | وَآتَينَاهُممِنَ الآيَاتِ مَا فِيه ِِ بَلاَء ٌ مُبِين ٌ And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. Wa 'Ātaynahum Mina Al-'Āyati Ma Fihi Bala'un Mubinun |
| 44:34 | إِنَّ هَاؤُلاَء لَيَقُولُونَ Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 'Inna Ha'uula' Layaqūlūna |
| 44:35 | إِن هِيَ إِلاَّ مَوتَتُنَا الأُولَى وَمَا نَحنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 'In Hiya 'Illa Mawtatuna Al-'Ūlá Wa Ma Naĥnu Bimunsharina |
| 44:36 | فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِنكُنتُم صَادِقِينَ "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" Fa'tū Bi'aba'ina 'In Kuntum Şadiqina |
| 44:37 | أَهُم خَيرٌ أَم قَومُ تُبَّع ٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِنقَبْلِهِم أَهلَكنَاهُم إِنَّهُم كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 'Ahum Khayrun 'Am Qawmu Tubba`in Wa Al-Ladhina Min Qablihim 'Ahlaknahum 'Innahum Kanū Mujrimina |
| 44:38 | وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرضَ وَمَا بَينَهُمَا لاَعِبِينَ And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, Wa Ma Khalaqna As-Samawati Wa Al-'Arđa Wa Ma Baynahuma La`ibina |
| 44:39 | مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلاَّ بِالحَقِّ وَلَكِنَّ أَكثَرَهُم لاَ يَعلَمُونَ We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. Ma Khalaqnahuma 'Illa Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Lakinna 'Aktharahum La Ya`lamūna |
| 44:40 | إِنَّ يَومَ الفَصلِ مِيقَاتُهُم أَجْمَعِينَ Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allah will judge between the creatures) is the time appointed for all of them, 'Inna Yawma Al-Faşli Miqatuhum 'Ajma`ina |
| 44:41 | يَومَ لاَ يُغنِي مَولىً عَنمَولى ً شَيئا ً وَلاَ هُم يُنصَرُونَ The Day when Maulan (a near relative) cannot avail Maulan (a near relative) in aught, and no help can they receive, Yawma La Yughni Mawláan `An Mawláan Shay'aan Wa La Hum Yunşarūna |
| 44:42 | إِلاَّ مَنرَحِمَ اللَّهُ إِنَّه ُُ هُوَ العَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 'Illa Man Raĥima Allahu 'Innahu Huwa Al-`Azizu Ar-Raĥimu |
| 44:43 | إِنَّ شَجَرَةَ الزَّقُّومِ Verily, the tree of Zaqqum, 'Inna Shajarata Az-Zaqqūmi |
| 44:44 | طَعَامُ الأَثِيمِ Will be the food of the sinners, Ţa`amu Al-'Athimi |
| 44:45 | كَالمُهلِ يَغلِي فِي البُطُونِ Like boiling oil, it will boil in the bellies, Kalmuhli Yaghli Fi Al-Buţūni |
| 44:46 | كَغَليِ الحَمِيمِ Like the boiling of scalding water. Kaghalyi Al-Ĥamimi |
| 44:47 | خُذُوه ُُ فَاعتِلُوهُ~ُ إِلَى سَوَاءِ الجَحِيمِ (It will be said) "Seize him and drag him into the midst of blazing Fire, Khudhūhu Fa`tilūhu 'Ilá Sawa'i Al-Jaĥimi |
| 44:48 | ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوقَ رَأْسِه ِِ مِن عَذَابِ الحَمِيمِ "Then pour over his head the torment of boiling water, Thumma Şubbū Fawqa Ra'sihi Min `Adhabi Al-Ĥamimi |
| 44:49 | ذُقإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ العَزِيزُ الكَرِيمُ "Taste you (this)! Verily, you were (pretending to be) the mighty, the generous! Dhuq 'Innaka 'Anta Al-`Azizu Al-Karimu |
| 44:50 | إِنَّ هَذَا مَا كُنتُمبِه ِِ تَمتَرُونَ "Verily! This is that whereof you used to doubt!" 'Inna Hadha Ma Kuntum Bihi Tamtarūna |
| 44:51 | إِنَّ المُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِين ٍ Verily! The Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2), will be in place of Security (Paradise). 'Inna Al-Muttaqina Fi Maqamin 'Aminin |
| 44:52 | فِي جَنَّات ٍ وَعُيُون ٍ Among Gardens and Springs; Fi Jannatin Wa `Uyūnin |
| 44:53 | يَلبَسُونَ مِنسُندُس ٍ وَإِستَبْرَق ٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ Dressed in fine silk and (also) in thick silk, facing each other, Yalbasūna Min Sundusin Wa 'Istabraqin Mutaqabilina |
| 44:54 | كَذَلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمبِحُورٍ عِين ٍ So (it will be), and We shall marry them to Houris (female fair ones) with wide, lovely eyes. Kadhalika Wa Zawwajnahum Biĥūrin `Īnin |
| 44:55 | يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَة ٍ آمِنِينَ They will call therein for every kind of fruit in peace and security; Yad`ūna Fiha Bikulli Fakihatin 'Āminina |
| 44:56 | لاَ يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا المَوتَ إِلاَّ المَوتَةَ الأُولَى وَوَقَاهُم عَذَابَ الجَحِيمِ They will never taste death therein except the first death (of this world), and He will save them from the torment of the blazing Fire, La Yadhūqūna Fiha Al-Mawta 'Illa Al-Mawtata Al-'Ūlá Wa Waqahum `Adhaba Al-Jaĥimi |
| 44:57 | فَضلا ً مِنرَبِّكَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الفَوزُ العَظِيمُ As a Bounty from your Lord! That will be the supreme success! Fađlaan Min Rabbika Dhalika Huwa Al-Fawzu Al-`Ažimu |
| 44:58 | فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرنَاه ُُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُم يَتَذَكَّرُونَ Certainly, We have made this (Qur'an) easy in your tongue, in order that they may remember. Fa'innama Yassarnahu Bilisanika La`allahum Yatadhakkarūna |
| 44:59 | فَارتَقِبإِنَّهُممُرتَقِبُونَ Wait then (O Muhammad SAW); Verily, they (too) are waiting. Fartaqib 'Innahum Murtaqibūna |
