قَاف وَالقُرآنِ المَجِيدِ

Qaf. [These letters (Qaf, etc.) are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Glorious Qur'an.

Qaf Wa Al-Qur'ani Al-Majidi

بَل عَجِبُوا أَنجَاءَهُممُنْذِر ٌ مِنهُم فَقَالَ الكَافِرُونَ هَذَا شَيءٌ عَجِيب ٌ

Nay, they wonder that there has come to them a warner (Muhammad) from among themselves. So the disbelievers say: "This is a strange thing!

Bal `Ajibū 'An Ja'ahum Mundhirun Minhum Faqala Al-Kafirūna Hadha Shay'un `Ajibun

أَئِذَا مِتنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابا ً ذَلِكَ رَجْع ٌ بَعِيد ٌ

"When we are dead and have become dust (shall we be resurrected?) That is a far return."

'A'idha Mitna Wa Kunna Turabaan Dhalika Raj`un Ba`idun

قَدعَلِمنَا مَا تَنْقُصُ الأَرضُ مِنهُم وَعِنْدَنَا كِتَابٌ حَفِيظ ٌ

We know that which the earth takes of them (their dead bodies), and with Us is a Book preserved (i.e. the Book of Decrees).

Qad `Alimna Ma Tanquşu Al-'Arđu Minhum Wa `Indana Kitabun Ĥafižun

بَل كَذَّبُوا بِالحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُم فَهُم فِي أَمر ٍ مَرِيج ٍ

Nay, but they have denied the truth (this Qur'an) when it has come to them, so they are in a confused state (can not differentiate between right and wrong).

Bal Kadhdhabū Bil-Ĥaqqi Lamma Ja'ahum Fahum Fi 'Amrin Marijin

أَفَلَم يَنْظُرُوا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَوقَهُم كَيفَ بَنَينَاهَا وَزَيَّنَّاهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِنفُرُوج ٍ

Have they not looked at the heaven above them, how We have made it and adorned it, and there are no rifts in it?

'Afalam Yanžurū 'Ilá As-Sama'i Fawqahum Kayfa Banaynaha Wa Zayyannaha Wa Ma Laha Min Furūjin

وَالأَرضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلقَينَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنْبَتنَا فِيهَا مِنكُلِّ زَوج ٍ بَهِيج ٍ

And the earth! We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and have produced therein every kind of lovely growth (plants).

Wa Al-'Arđa Madadnaha Wa 'Alqayna Fiha Rawasiya Wa 'Anbatna Fiha Min Kulli Zawjin Bahijin

تَبْصِرَة ً وَذِكرَى لِكُلِّ عَبْد ٍ مُنِيب ٍ

An insight and a Reminder for every slave turning to Allah (i.e. the one who believes in Allah and performs deeds of His obedience, and always begs His pardon).

Tabşiratan Wa Dhikrá Likulli `Abdin Munibin

وَنَزَّلنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاء ً مُبَارَكا ً فَأَنْبَتنَا بِه ِِ جَنَّات ٍ وَحَبَّ الحَصِيدِ

And We send down blessed water (rain) from the sky, then We produce therewith gardens and grain (every kind of harvests) that are reaped.

Wa Nazzalna Mina As-Sama'i Ma'an Mubarakaan Fa'anbatna Bihi Jannatin Wa Ĥabba Al-Ĥaşidi

وَالنَّخلَ بَاسِقَات ٍ لَهَا طَلع ٌ نَضِيد ٌ

And tall date-palms, with ranged clusters;

Wa An-Nakhla Basiqatin Laha Ţal`un Nađidun

رِزقا ً لِلعِبَادِ وَأَحيَينَا بِه ِِ بَلدَة ً مَيتا ً كَذَلِكَ الخُرُوجُ

A provision for (Allah's) slaves. And We give life therewith to a dead land. Thus will be the resurrection (of the dead).

Rizqaan Lil`ibadi Wa 'Aĥyayna Bihi Baldatan Maytaan Kadhalika Al-Khurūju

كَذَّبَت قَبْلَهُم قَومُ نُوح ٍ وَأَصحَابُ الرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ

Denied before them (i.e. these pagans of Makkah who denied you, O Muhammad) the people of Nuh (Noah), and the dwellers of Rass, and the Thamud,

Kadhdhabat Qablahum Qawmu Nūĥin Wa 'Aşĥabu Ar-Rassi Wa Thamūdu

وَعَاد ٌ وَفِرعَونُ وَإِخوَانُ لُوط ٍ

And 'Ad, and Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and the brethren of Lout (Lot),

Wa `Ādun Wa Fir`awnu Wa 'Ikhwanu Lūţin

وَأَصحَابُ الأَيكَةِ وَقَومُ تُبَّع ٍ كُلّ ٌ كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ

And the dwellers of the Wood, and the people of Tubba'; everyone of them denied (their) Messengers, so My Threat took effect.

Wa 'Aşĥabu Al-'Aykati Wa Qawmu Tubba`in Kullun Kadhdhaba Ar-Rusula Faĥaqqa Wa`idi

أَفَعَيِينَا بِالخَلقِ الأَوَّلِ بَل هُم فِي لَبْس ٍ مِن خَلق ٍ جَدِيد ٍ

Were We then tired with the first creation? Nay, They are in confused doubt about a new creation (i.e. Resurrection)?

'Afa`ayina Bil-Khalqi Al-'Awwali Bal Hum Fi Labsin Min Khalqin Jadidin

وَلَقَدخَلَقْنَا الإِنسَانَ وَنَعلَمُ مَا تُوَسوِسُ بِه ِِ نَفسُه ُُ وَنَحنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيهِ مِن حَبْلِ الوَرِيدِ

And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge).

Wa Laqad Khalaqna Al-'Insana Wa Na`lamu Ma Tuwaswisu Bihi Nafsuhu Wa Naĥnu 'Aqrabu 'Ilayhi Min Ĥabli Al-Waridi

إِذ يَتَلَقَّى المُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ اليَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ قَعِيد ٌ

(Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions) .

'Idh Yatalaqqá Al-Mutalaqqiyani `Ani Al-Yamini Wa `Ani Ash-Shimali Qa`idun

مَا يَلفِظُ مِنقَول ٍ إِلاَّ لَدَيهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيد ٌ

Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it).

Ma Yalfižu Min Qawlin 'Illa Ladayhi Raqibun `Atidun

وَجَاءَت سَكرَةُ المَوتِ بِالحَقِّ ذَلِكَ مَا كُنْتَ مِنهُ تَحِيدُ

And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what you have been avoiding!"

Wa Ja'at Sakratu Al-Mawti Bil-Ĥaqqi Dhalika Ma Kunta Minhu Taĥidu

وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ ذَلِكَ يَومُ الوَعِيدِ

And the Trumpet will be blown, that will be the Day whereof warning (had been given) (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).

Wa Nufikha Fi Aş-Şūri Dhalika Yawmu Al-Wa`idi

وَجَاءَت كُلُّ نَفس ٍ مَعَهَا سَائِق ٌ وَشَهِيد ٌ

And every person will come forth along with an (angel) to drive (him), and an (angel) to bear witness.

Wa Ja'at Kullu Nafsin Ma`aha Sa'iqun Wa Shahidun

لَقَدكُنْتَ فِي غَفلَة ٍ مِن هَذَا فَكَشَفنَا عَنْكَ غِطَاءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ اليَومَ حَدِيد ٌ

(It will be said to the sinners): "Indeed you were heedless of this, now We have removed your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day!"

Laqad Kunta Fi Ghaflatin Min Hadha Fakashafna `Anka Ghiţa'aka Fabaşaruka Al-Yawma Ĥadidun

وَقَالَ قَرِينُه ُُ هَذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيد ٌ

And his companion (angel) will say: "Here is (this Record) ready with me!"

Wa Qala Qarinuhu Hadha Ma Ladayya `Atidun

أَلقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيد ٍ

(And it will be said): "Both of you throw (Order from Allah to the two angels) into Hell, every stubborn disbeliever (in the Oneness of Allah, in His Messengers, etc.).

'Alqiya Fi Jahannama Kulla Kaffarin `Anidin

مَنَّاع ٍ لِلخَيرِ مُعتَد ٍ مُرِيب ٍ

"Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter,

Manna`in Lilkhayri Mu`tadin Muribin

الَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَها ً آخَرَ فَأَلقِيَاه ُُ فِي العَذَابِ الشَّدِيدِ

"Who set up another ilah (god) with Allah, then (both of you) cast him in the severe torment."

Al-Ladhi Ja`ala Ma`a Allahi 'Ilahaan 'Ākhara Fa'alqiyahu Fi Al-`Adhabi Ash-Shadidi

قَالَ قَرِينُه ُُ رَبَّنَا مَا أَطْغَيتُه ُُ وَلَكِنكَانَ فِي ضَلاَل ٍ بَعِيد ٍ

His companion (Satan devil)] will say: "Our Lord! I did not push him to transgress, (in disbelief, oppression, and evil deeds) but he was himself in error far astray."

Qala Qarinuhu Rabbana Ma 'Aţghaytuhu Wa Lakin Kana Fi Đalalin Ba`idin

قَالَ لاَ تَختَصِمُوا لَدَيَّ وَقَدقَدَّمتُ إِلَيكُمبِالوَعِيدِ

Allah will say: "Dispute not in front of Me, I had already, in advance, sent you the threat.

Qala La Takhtaşimū Ladayya Wa Qad Qaddamtu 'Ilaykum Bil-Wa`idi

مَا يُبَدَّلُ القَولُ لَدَيَّ وَمَا أَنَا بِظَلاَّم ٍ لِلعَبِيدِ

The Sentence that comes from Me cannot be changed, and I am not unjust (to the least) to the slaves."

Ma Yubaddalu Al-Qawlu Ladayya Wa Ma 'Ana Bižallamin Lil`abidi

يَومَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَل امتَلَأْتِ وَتَقُولُ هَل مِنمَزِيد ٍ

On the Day when We will say to Hell: "Are you filled?" It will say: "Are there any more (to come)?"

Yawma Naqūlu Lijahannama Hal Amtala'ti Wa Taqūlu Hal Min Mazidin

وَأُزلِفَتِ الجَنَّةُ لِلمُتَّقِينَ غَيرَ بَعِيد ٍ

And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2) not far off.

Wa 'Uzlifati Al-Jannatu Lilmuttaqina Ghayra Ba`idin

هَذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِيظ ٍ

(It will be said): "This is what you were promised, - (it is) for those oft-returning (to Allah) in sincere repentance, and those who preserve their covenant with Allah (by obeying Him in all what He has ordered, and worship none but Allah Alone, i.e. follow Allah's Religion, Islamic Monotheism).

Hadha Ma Tū`adūna Likulli 'Awwabin Ĥafižin

مَن خَشِيَ الرَّحمَنَ بِالغَيبِ وَجَاءَ بِقَلب ٍ مُنِيب ٍ

"Who feared the Most Beneficent (Allah) in the Ghaib (unseen): (i.e. in this worldly life before seeing and meeting Him), and brought a heart turned in repentance (to Him - and absolutely free from each and every kind of polytheism),

Man Khashiya Ar-Raĥmana Bil-Ghaybi Wa Ja'a Biqalbin Munibin

ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلاَم ٍ ذَلِكَ يَومُ الخُلُودِ

"Enter you therein in peace and security; this is a Day of eternal life!"

Adkhulūha Bisalamin Dhalika Yawmu Al-Khulūdi

لَهُممَا يَشَاءُونَ فِيهَا وَلَدَينَا مَزِيد ٌ

There they will have all that they desire, and We have more (for them, i.e. a glance at the All-Mighty, All-Majestic).

Lahum Ma Yasha'ūna Fiha Wa Ladayna Mazidun

وَكَم أَهلَكنَا قَبْلَهُممِنقَرنٍ هُم أَشَدُّ مِنهُمبَطْشا ً فَنَقَّبُوا فِي البِلاَدِ هَل مِنمَحِيص ٍ

And how many a generation We have destroyed before them, who were stronger in power than them, and (when Our Torment came) they ran for a refuge in the land! Could they find any place of refuge (for them to save themselves from destruction)?

Wa Kam 'Ahlakna Qablahum Min Qarnin Hum 'Ashaddu Minhum Baţshaan Fanaqqabū Fi Al-Biladi Hal Min Maĥişin

إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَذِكرَى لِمَنكَانَ لَه ُُ قَلبٌ أَو أَلقَى السَّمعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيد ٌ

Verily, therein is indeed a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ear while he is heedful.

'Inna Fi Dhalika Ladhikrá Liman Kana Lahu Qalbun 'Aw 'Alqá As-Sam`a Wa Huwa Shahidun

وَلَقَدخَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرضَ وَمَا بَينَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّام ٍ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِنلُغُوب ٍ

And indeed We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six Days and nothing of fatigue touched Us.

Wa Laqad Khalaqna As-Samawati Wa Al-'Arđa Wa Ma Baynahuma Fi Sittati 'Ayyamin Wa Ma Massana Min Lughūbin

فَاصبِر عَلَى مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّح بِحَمدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمسِ وَقَبْلَ الغُرُوبِ

So bear with patience (O Muhammad) all that they say, and glorify the Praises of your Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting (i.e. the Fajr, Zuhr, and 'Asr prayers) .

Faşbir `Alá Ma Yaqūlūna Wa Sabbiĥ Biĥamdi Rabbika Qabla Ţulū`i Ash-Shamsi Wa Qabla Al-Ghurūbi

وَمِنَ اللَّيلِ فَسَبِّحهُ وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ

And during a part of the night (also), glorify His praises (i.e. Maghrib and 'Isha prayers), and (so likewise) after the prayers [As-Sunnah, Nawafil optional and additional prayers, and also glorify, praise and magnify Allah - Subhan Allah, Alhamdu lillah, Allahu-Akbar].

Wa Mina Al-Layli Fasabbiĥhu Wa 'Adbara As-Sujūdi

وَاستَمِع يَومَ يُنَادِ المُنَادِ مِنمَكَان ٍ قَرِيب ٍ

And listen on the Day when the caller will call from a near place,

Wa Astami` Yawma Yunadi Al-Munadi Min Makanin Qaribin

يَومَ يَسمَعُونَ الصَّيحَةَ بِالحَقِّ ذَلِكَ يَومُ الخُرُوجِ

The Day when they will hear As-Saihah (shout, etc.) in truth, that will be the Day of coming out (from the graves i.e. the Day of Resurrection).

Yawma Yasma`ūna Aş-Şayĥata Bil-Ĥaqqi Dhalika Yawmu Al-Khurūji

إِنَّا نَحنُ نُحيِي وَنُمِيتُ وَإِلَينَا المَصِيرُ

Verily, We it is Who give life and cause death; and to Us is the final return,

'Inna Naĥnu Nuĥyi Wa Numitu Wa 'Ilayna Al-Maşiru

يَومَ تَشَقَّقُ الأَرضُ عَنهُم سِرَاعا ً ذَلِكَ حَشرٌ عَلَينَا يَسِير ٌ

On the Day when the earth shall be cleft, from off them, (they will come out) hastening forth. That will be a gathering, quite easy for Us.

Yawma Tashaqqaqu Al-'Arđu `Anhum Sira`aan Dhalika Ĥashrun `Alayna Yasirun

نَحنُ أَعلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ وَمَا أَنْتَ عَلَيهِمبِجَبَّار ٍ فَذَكِّر بِالقُرآنِ مَنيَخَافُ وَعِيدِ

We know of best what they say; and you (O Muhammad) are not a tyrant over them (to force them to Belief). But warn by the Qur'an, him who fears My Threat.

Naĥnu 'A`lamu Bima Yaqūlūna Wa Ma 'Anta `Alayhim Bijabbarin Fadhakkir Bil-Qur'ani Man Yakhafu Wa`idi
