78:1 | عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ What are they asking (one another)? `Amma Yatasa'alūna |
78:2 | عَنِ النَّبَإِ العَظِيمِ About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Qur'an, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), `Ani An-Naba'i Al-`Ažimi |
78:3 | الَّذِي هُم فِيه ِِ مُختَلِفُونَ About which they are in disagreement. Al-Ladhi Hum Fihi Mukhtalifūna |
78:4 | كَلاَّ سَيَعلَمُونَ Nay, they will come to know! Kalla Saya`lamūna |
78:5 | ثُمَّ كَلاَّ سَيَعلَمُونَ Nay, again, they will come to know! Thumma Kalla Saya`lamūna |
78:6 | أَلَم نَجْعَلِ الأَرضَ مِهَادا ً Have We not made the earth as a bed, 'Alam Naj`ali Al-'Arđa Mihadaan |
78:7 | وَالجِبَالَ أَوتَادا ً And the mountains as pegs? Wa Al-Jibala 'Awtadaan |
78:8 | وَخَلَقْنَاكُم أَزوَاجا ً And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). Wa Khalaqnakum 'Azwajaan |
78:9 | وَجَعَلنَا نَومَكُم سُبَاتا ً And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. Wa Ja`alna Nawmakum Subataan |
78:10 | وَجَعَلنَا اللَّيلَ لِبَاسا ً And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), Wa Ja`alna Al-Layla Libasaan |
78:11 | وَجَعَلنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشا ً And have made the day for livelihood. Wa Ja`alna An-Nahara Ma`ashaan |
78:12 | وَبَنَينَا فَوقَكُم سَبْعا ً شِدَادا ً And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), Wa Banayna Fawqakum Sab`aan Shidadaan |
78:13 | وَجَعَلنَا سِرَاجا ً وَهَّاجا ً And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). Wa Ja`alna Sirajaan Wa Hhajaan |
78:14 | وَأَنزَلنَا مِنَ المُعصِرَاتِ مَاء ً ثَجَّاجا ً And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. Wa 'Anzalna Mina Al-Mu`şirati Ma'an Thajjajaan |
78:15 | لِنُخرِجَ بِه ِِ حَبّا ً وَنَبَاتا ً That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, Linukhrija Bihi Ĥabbaan Wa Nabataan |
78:16 | وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلفَافا ً And gardens of thick growth. Wa Jannatin 'Alfafaan |
78:17 | إِنَّ يَومَ الفَصلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتا ً Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 'Inna Yawma Al-Faşli Kana Miqataan |
78:18 | يَومَ يُنفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفوَاجا ً The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); Yawma Yunfakhu Fi Aş-Şūri Fata'tūna 'Afwajaan |
78:19 | وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَت أَبْوَابا ً And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, Wa Futiĥati As-Sama'u Fakanat 'Abwabaan |
78:20 | وَسُيِّرَتِ الجِبَالُ فَكَانَت سَرَابا ً And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. Wa Suyyirati Al-Jibalu Fakanat Sarabaan |
78:21 | إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَت مِرصَادا ً Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 'Inna Jahannama Kanat Mirşadaan |
78:22 | لِلطَّاغِينَ مَآبا ً A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), Lilţţaghina Ma'abaan |
78:23 | لاَبِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحقَابا ً They will abide therein for ages, Labithina Fiha 'Aĥqabaan |
78:24 | لاَ يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَردا ً وَلاَ شَرَابا ً Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. La Yadhūqūna Fiha Bardaan Wa La Sharabaan |
78:25 | إِلاَّ حَمِيما ً وَغَسَّاقا ً Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 'Illa Ĥamimaan Wa Ghassaqaan |
78:26 | جَزَاء ً وِفَاقا ً An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). Jaza'an Wifaqaan |
78:27 | إِنَّهُم كَانُوا لاَ يَرجُونَ حِسَابا ً For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 'Innahum Kanū La Yarjūna Ĥisabaan |
78:28 | وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كِذَّابا ً But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. Wa Kadhdhabū Bi'ayatina Kidhdhabaan |
78:29 | وَكُلَّ شَيءٍ أَحصَينَاه ُُ كِتَابا ً And all things We have recorded in a Book. Wa Kulla Shay'in 'Aĥşaynahu Kitabaan |
78:30 | فَذُوقُوا فَلَننَزِيدَكُم إِلاَّ عَذَابا ً So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. Fadhūqū Falan Nazidakum 'Illa `Adhabaan |
78:31 | إِنَّ لِلمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازا ً Verily, for the Muttaqun, there will be a success (Paradise); 'Inna Lilmuttaqina Mafazaan |
78:32 | حَدَائِقَ وَأَعنَابا ً Gardens and grapeyards; Ĥada'iqa Wa 'A`nabaan |
78:33 | وَكَوَاعِبَ أَترَابا ً And young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age; Wa Kawa`iba 'Atrabaan |
78:34 | وَكَأْسا ً دِهَاقا ً And a full cup (of wine). Wa Ka'saan Dihaqaan |
78:35 | لاَ يَسمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغوا ً وَلاَ كِذَّابا ً No Laghw (dirty, false, evil talk) shall they hear therein, nor lying; La Yasma`ūna Fiha Laghwan Wa La Kidhdhabaan |
78:36 | جَزَاء ً مِنرَبِّكَ عَطَاءً حِسَابا ً A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift (according to the best of their good deeds). Jaza'an Min Rabbika `Aţa'an Ĥisabaan |
78:37 | رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرضِ وَمَا بَينَهُمَا الرَّحمَنِ لاَ يَملِكُونَ مِنهُ خِطَابا ً (From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatsoever is in between them, the Most Beneficent, none can dare to speak with Him (on the Day of Resurrection except after His Leave). Rabbi As-Samawati Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Ma Baynahuma Ar-Raĥmani La Yamlikūna Minhu Khiţabaan |
78:38 | يَومَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالمَلاَئِكَةُ صَفّا ً لاَ يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلاَّ مَن أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحمَنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابا ً The Day that Ar-Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, none shall speak except him whom the Most Beneficent (Allah) allows, and he will speak what is right. Yawma Yaqūmu Ar-Rūĥu Wa Al-Mala'ikatu Şaffaan La Yatakallamūna 'Illa Man 'Adhina Lahu Ar-Raĥmanu Wa Qala Şawabaan |
78:39 | ذَلِكَ اليَومُ الحَقُّ فَمَنشَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَى رَبِّه ِِ مَآبا ً That is without doubt the True Day, so, whosoever wills, let him seek a place with (or a way to) His Lord (by obeying Him in this worldly life)! Dhalika Al-Yawmu Al-Ĥaqqu Faman Sha'a Attakhadha 'Ilá Rabbihi Ma'abaan |
78:40 | إِنَّا أَنذَرنَاكُم عَذَابا ً قَرِيبا ً يَومَ يَنظُرُ المَرءُ مَا قَدَّمَت يَدَاه ُُ وَيَقُولُ الكَافِرُ يَالَيتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَابا ً Verily, We have warned you of a near torment, the Day when man will see that (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I were dust!" 'Inna 'Andharnakum `Adhabaan Qaribaan Yawma Yanžuru Al-Mar'u Ma Qaddamat Yadahu Wa Yaqūlu Al-Kafiru Ya Laytani Kuntu Turabaan |
