وَيل ٌ لِلمُطَفِّفِينَ

Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)],

Waylun Lilmuţaffifina

الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَستَوفُونَ

Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure,

Al-Ladhina 'Idha Aktalū `Alá An-Nasi Yastawfūna

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُم أَو وَزَنُوهُم يُخسِرُونَ

And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.

Wa 'Idha Kalūhum 'Aw Wazanūhum Yukhsirūna

أَلاَ يَظُنُّ أُولَئِكَ أَنَّهُممَبْعُوثُونَ

Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning),

'Ala Yažunnu 'Ūla'ika 'Annahum Mab`ūthūna

لِيَومٍ عَظِيم ٍ

On a Great Day,

Liyawmin `Ažimin

يَومَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ العَالَمِينَ

The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?

Yawma Yaqūmu An-Nasu Lirabbi Al-`Ālamina

كَلاَّ إِنَّ كِتَابَ الفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّين ٍ

Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin.

Kalla 'Inna Kitaba Al-Fujjari Lafi Sijjinin

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّين ٌ

And what will make you know what Sijjin is?

Wa Ma 'Adraka Ma Sijjinun

كِتَاب ٌ مَرقُوم ٌ

A Register inscribed.

Kitabun Marqūmun

وَيل ٌ يَومَئِذ ٍ لِلمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)].

Waylun Yawma'idhin Lilmukadhdhibina

الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَومِ الدِّينِ

Those who deny the Day of Recompense.

Al-Ladhina Yukadhdhibūna Biyawmi Ad-Dini

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إلاَّ كُلُّ مُعتَدٍ أَثِيم ٍ

And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!)

Wa Ma Yukadhdhibu Bihi 'Illa Kullu Mu`tadin 'Athimin

إِذَا تُتلَى عَلَيهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الأَوَّلِينَ

When Our Verses (of the Qur'an) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!"

'Idha Tutlá `Alayhi 'Āyatuna Qala 'Asaţiru Al-'Awwalina

كَلاَّ بَل رَانَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِممَا كَانُوا يَكسِبُونَ

Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn.

Kalla Bal Rana `Alá Qulūbihim Ma Kanū Yaksibūna

كَلاَّ إِنَّهُم عَنرَبِّهِم يَومَئِذ ٍ لَمَحجُوبُونَ

Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day.

Kalla 'Innahum `An Rabbihim Yawma'idhin Lamaĥjūbūna

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُم لَصَالُوا الجَحِيمِ

Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell.

Thumma 'Innahum Laşalū Al-Jaĥimi

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَذَا الَّذِي كُنتُمبِه ِِ تُكَذِّبُونَ

Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!"

Thumma Yuqalu Hadha Al-Ladhi Kuntum Bihi Tukadhdhibūna

كَلاَّ إِنَّ كِتَابَ الأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ

Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun.

Kalla 'Inna Kitaba Al-'Abrari Lafi `Illiyina

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ

And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is?

Wa Ma 'Adraka Ma `Illiyūna

كِتَاب ٌ مَرقُوم ٌ

A Register inscribed.

Kitabun Marqūmun

يَشهَدُهُ المُقَرَّبُونَ

To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels).

Yash/haduhu Al-Muqarrabūna

إِنَّ الأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيم ٍ

Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise).

'Inna Al-'Abrara Lafi Na`imin

عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ

On thrones, looking (at all things).

`Alá Al-'Ara'iki Yanžurūna

تَعرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِم نَضرَةَ النَّعِيمِ

You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight.

Ta`rifu Fi Wujūhihim Nađrata An-Na`imi

يُسقَونَ مِنرَحِيق ٍ مَختُوم ٍ

They will be given to drink pure sealed wine.

Yusqawna Min Raĥiqin Makhtūmin

خِتَامُه ُُ مِسك ٌ وَفِي ذَلِكَ فَليَتَنَافَسِ المُتَنَافِسُونَ

The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah).

Khitamuhu Miskun Wa Fi Dhalika Falyatanafasi Al-Mutanafisūna

وَمِزَاجُه ُُ مِنتَسنِيم ٍ

It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim.

Wa Mizajuhu Min Tasnimin

عَينا ً يَشرَبُ بِهَا المُقَرَّبُونَ

A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah.

`Aynaan Yashrabu Biha Al-Muqarrabūna

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضحَكُونَ

Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

'Inna Al-Ladhina 'Ajramū Kanū Mina Al-Ladhina 'Āmanū Yađĥakūna

وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِم يَتَغَامَزُونَ

And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery);

Wa 'Idha Marrū Bihim Yataghamazūna

وَإِذَا انقَلَبُوا إِلَى أَهلِهِمُ انقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ

And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;

Wa 'Idha Anqalabū 'Ilá 'Ahlihimu Anqalabū Fakihina

وَإِذَا رَأَوهُم قَالُوا إِنَّ هَاؤُلاَء لَضَالُّونَ

And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!"

Wa 'Idha Ra'awhum Qalū 'Inna Ha'uula' Lađallūna

وَمَا أُرسِلُوا عَلَيهِم حَافِظِينَ

But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers).

Wa Ma 'Ursilū `Alayhim Ĥafižina

فَاليَومَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنَ الكُفَّارِ يَضحَكُونَ

But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers.

Falyawma Al-Ladhina 'Āmanū Mina Al-Kuffari Yađĥakūna

عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ

On (high) thrones, looking (at all things).

`Alá Al-'Ara'iki Yanžurūna

هَل ثُوِّبَ الكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفعَلُونَ

Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do?
